Anica Perez, M.A., LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the state of Texas, is a National Certified Counselor, and a Certified School Counselor. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. Anica received her school counseling certification from the University of Texas at Tyler and also completed a play therapy certification program from Capella University. Anica has also worked as a Special Education teacher and has knowledge of the ARD and Section 504 processes.
Anica works with a wide range of clients from childhood to adulthood, but primarily focuses on children and adolescents with a variety of presenting issues such as anxiety, depression, adjustment, trauma, anger, and grief. Anica also works with parents to help them understand the 504 process and their rights.
Anica believes that the client is the expert of their own lives and is in control of their own choices and behaviors. Her role as the counselor is to encourage, support, and guide her clients toward better self-discovery. Anica’s goal is to create a safe therapeutic environment for the client with the hope that the client will begin to explore their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Anica strives to instill hope in her clients by empowering them to discover and build on their own strengths, and further believes that things can and will get better provided the client makes a commitment to not only to the counseling process, but also to themselves.
