Beal, M.A., LPC-S earned her bachelor degree in Education and a minor in Biology from Texas A & M University in 1993. Ms. Beal also earned her Master of Arts in Counseling from Sam Houston State University in 2007. Ms. Beal’s professional background includes 31 years in secondary education, 10 of those years serving as a counselor, helping each student strive to reach their best self.

Utilizing techniques in Cognitive Behavioral, Brief-Solution Focused, and Play Therapy for over 14 years, Ms. Beal specializes in counseling for children, adolescents, and adults on issues associated with ADD/ADHD, life transitions and adjustment, grief, anxiety, stress, and depression. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is a goal-oriented psychotherapy treatment that takes a hands-on, practical approach to problem-solving. The goal is to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind people’s difficulties, and so, change the way they feel. Combined with CBT, she also infuses brief, solution-focused therapy, which concentrates on the “present” and techniques in “solution building.” Play Therapy is a form of counseling or psychotherapy that uses “play” to communicate with and help children to prevent or resolve psychosocial challenges. This is thought to help them towards better social integration, growth and development, emotional modulation, and trauma resolution.

Trish believes that the actual relationship between client and therapist is a powerful tool necessary to maximize positive change. People who receive psychotherapy are more likely to continue to improve and flourish after therapy ends. Along with reducing symptoms, therapy also helps you understand the underlying issues and make decisions in your life that can provide healing, growth, and positive change. Trish believes this is possible when each person is committed to the “exploration” and the “journey.” Trish is committed to professional growth and maintains active membership in Texas Counseling Association and Texas School Counseling Association.
