Katherine Stockmeyer

I am a passionate and dedicated graduate student, currently pursuing her master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lamar University. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from Sam Houston State University. I am also a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern (LCDC-I). I have a strong desire to help others and a genuine empathy for people's struggles, I am committed to making a positive impact on the mental health and well-being of individuals and families.

Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a solid foundation in counseling theories, techniques, and ethical practices. My theoretical orientation is primarily rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT emphasizes the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and aims to help clients identify and change maladaptive patterns of thinking. I believe that change occurs through a collaborative process between the counselor and client, where the counselor serves as a guide, providing new perspectives and facilitating the client's journey toward meaningful change.

While my primary theory is CBT, I believe in tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs and goals of each client and creating a safe and collaborative therapeutic environment. I strive to create a safe space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences, fostering self-awareness and facilitating healing. I strive to create a safe space where individuals can openly explore their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. My primary objective is to establish a solid therapeutic alliance with clients, empowering them to embark on a journey of meaningful change.
