Leonela Gonzales


Leonela is currently a graduate student at Houston Baptist University pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and she is being supervised by Maggie Chlebana M.S., LPC. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing with a Minor in History from the University of Houston in 2013. She is a member of the Texas Counseling Association.

Leonela has worked as a public secondary school teacher in the Houston area since 2013. She is passionate about learning, and creativity. As a life-long learner, Leonela is dedicated to personal growth and is committed to assisting her clients with their individual and unique goals. Her approach to counseling utilizes Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-focused, and Person-centered techniques. She believes that all people can be empowered to find solutions within themselves, and that each individual can practice different ways of thinking to better cope with the stressors of life. She is looking forward to working with adolescents, individual adults, and families. She is especially interested in helping people overcome obstacles related to anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues.
