Mariel is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Licensed Professional Counselors under the supervision of Kimberly L. Boyd, M.S., LPC-S and also a U.S. Army Combat Veteran. She received her M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CACREP accredited program) from Lamar University in May 2019. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a member of Chi Sigma Iota, the international honor society of professional counseling and professional counselors.

Mariel works with Veterans, individuals, adolescents, and children that experienced crisis, trauma, sexual abuse, and physical violence. She is EMDR trained and utilizes person-centered, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, and play therapy techniques to assist clients through the therapeutic process. Her approach is to create a non-judgmental space where clients understand that their feelings and emotions matter, they are safe, supported, and accepted. She believes in having a collaborative relationship with clients, where they are able to express their thoughts, feel empowered, and can participate fully in the counseling process towards achieving their therapeutic goals.
